Are you passionate about restorative justice, anti-racism, resilient organizations, and community-building?
This is an opportunity to help guide an established, dynamic, impactful organization working to create a more just, inclusive,
connected, and safe community.We are particularly seeking individuals interested in serving as Vice-President or Secretary. Mentorship and support will be provided. New Board terms will begin in November 2026. The term for Board members is 3 years, with the possibility of a consecutive term.
Is this position right for me?
You are passionate about our work, self-aware, reflective, a collaborative team member, and a strategic thinker who works well in complexity.
You can attend monthly Board meetings (typically 10 a year) during business hours in downtown Courtenay.
You are willing to serve on a Board task force or committee as needed and can commit 4–8 hours per month, inclusive of the board meeting.
Qualifications
A community member in the Comox Valley.
You understand or are interested in growing your knowledge about governance responsibility and oversight.
Alignment with the Community Justice Centre mission and values.
Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check.
Alignment with Restorative Justice and Indigenous Reconciliation.
Assets:
Lived experience and perspectives relevant to our work, including youth, community safety, education, racialization, marginalization, victimization, and business ownership.
Equity-deserving identities and perspectives, including those of people who are racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+, or who have experienced marginalization.
Experience strengthening organizations through governance, healthy board culture, policy, strategic planning, or organizational development is an asset.
