Community Representatives: Volunteers who bring perspectives, voices, and experiences that are currently missing or underrepresented within our organization, helping to strengthen and broaden our understanding of the community we serve. Volunteer Roles:

Responsible for the day-to-day management of case files, conduct exploratory meetings with parites, and attend Resolution Conferences and Circles. Most Case Coordinators volunteer 1 day a week for 3 hours and attend between 1 and 3 Conferences or Circles a month.
Required: High computer skills and comfortable with Microsoft Office.

Oversee the administration of case files and assist Case Coordinators with case file management. When time allows, Administrative Coordinators performs other helpful administrative duties, such as Board Meeting preparation, Community Engagements, Volunteer Coordinating, and other duties as needed. Most Administrative Coordinators volunteer 1 day a week for 3 hours.
Required: Attention to detail, high computer skills and comfortable with Microsoft Office.

Attend the Resolution Conferences and provide appropriate input and community knowledge to enable all parties to come to a respectful conclusion. How often a Community Representative may be requested to attend varies greatly.

Ensure that all parties are heard, a meaningful and viable agreement is reached and that the CJC process is followed. Most Resolution Conferences require a 3-hour time commitment. How often a Facilitator may be requested to attend a conference varies greatly.

Plan and facilitate Circles, including meeting with parties for exploratory meetings, and ensuring all relevant information is documented.

The Community Justice Centre is governed by 13 Directors. Elections for new Directors takes place at the Annual General Meeting in November. If you are interested in being on the Board of Directors please contact us.

We have special projects where volunteer contributions are greatly valued. Examples include, but are not limited to:
Maintaining our physical space; Graphic design support;Attending community engagement events with the Managing Director; Anti-discrimination work; Administrative tasks; Technology support; Planning and setup for community education events; and more. We would not exist without the 60+ volunteers who power our work. Many of our volunteers, with a wide range of ages and backgrounds, have been volunteering with us for more than ten years.

Depending on the role(s) our volunteers perform, there are minimum and flexible time commitments. Schedules vary and are often flexible.

There are many ways to volunteer with the the Community Justice Centre. Initial and ongoing trainings are provided, and we’re always open to specific training requests from our volunteers.
